Among the many ways we support the community is by hosting Breakfasts with History.  In this lecture series, knowledgeable speakers provide insight into the varied and interesting history of life in the Santa Cruz River Valley.

In the spring, the society celebrates with an Annual Picnic at a historic site. Also, periodically we sponsor field trips to archaeological and historical sites.

Tubac History on Thursday Afternoon with Dan Judkins, April 25, 2024

April 25 @ 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm

“Tubac History on a Thursday Afternoon”

April 25, 2024 – Focused topic will be “Deep, DEEP History of the Tubac Area Landscape – formation of the mountains, the valley and the Santa Cruz River, and Evolution of the Climate/Plants/Animals.” The landscape determines in many ways, the opportunities people have, and therefore the events of history.

This is not your typical history “lecture.” It is a great opportunity to enjoy the relaxed informality of a small-group discussion to bring up history questions, thoughts.

The meetings begin at 3:30 pm in the “Yellow Casita,” next door to The Historical Society’s location at 6 Burruel St.

Please bring a drink for yourself and a small snack or appetizer to share. We encourage you to bring a Tubac-area history question, comment, or thought.

The discussion session starts with those who wish to ask a history question or comment. The atmosphere is very relaxed and informal. After this beginning the discussion session on the focused topic of the day will begin.

All are welcome to this free event!  No RSVP required.

We will see parts of the old Spanish Road and several segments of the acequia, shown on the 1767 and still visible today.
