Breakfast With History, November 14 at 8:30 a.m. at Wisdoms Café in Tumacácori will feature Tucson actor, Van Fowers impersonating Tom Jeffords. According to Wikipedia, Tom Jeffords was a United States Army scout, Indian agent, prospector, and superintendent of overland mail in the Arizona Territory. His friendship with Apache leader Cochise was instrumental in ending the Indian wars in that region. Please join us for this entertaining and informative presentation. Gloria Fraser Giffords graduated from the University of Arizona with a BFA and MA in art history, specializing in Spanish colonial art. Her master’s thesis “Mexican Folk Retablos” was first published by the University of Arizona Press and later reissued by the University of New Mexico Press. The fruit of more than 30 years of studying and photographing religious structures in Northern New Spain resulted in “Sanctuaries of Earth, Stone and Light”, published by the University of Arizona Press. GADSDEN PURCHASE AND BORDER SURVEYS PRESENTED BY DANIEL JUDKINS The Tubac Historical Society Breakfast with History WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25, 8:30 AM – 10 AM at the LONGHORN GRILLE AMADO Surveys of the new border after the 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, from 1849-1853, led to disputes and almost resulted in military action.
