Our Mission

To Support research on the history of Tubac and the Santa Cruz River Valley,
preserve that history, and share it with the public.

For over 50 years, The Tubac Historical Society has worked to preserve the unique history of Tubac and the Santa Cruz River Valley including:

    • Helping save the Tubac 1885 Old Schoolhouse and the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park and Museum
    • Establishing the Elizabeth Brownell Research Center
    • Building an extensive collection of  Oral History interviews with local residents recounting their experiences in Tubac
    • Creating an Online Catalogue of our collection of area maps, local artists’ biographies, local family histories, and more
    • The Breakfast with History lecture series
    • Assisting researchers from all over the world with research requests
    • Presenting popular exhibits on local historical topics

We invite you to visit our research library and visitor center, a 1914 adobe building at 6 Burruel Street in Tubac just opposite the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park and Museum.  To learn more about our fascinating history,  browse our online catalogue and online exhibits.

Research projects are ongoing and we welcome research requests from the public.  Send your requests to info@ths-tubac.org

We continue to add to our decades of Oral History interviews of local residents who provide firsthand accounts of life in Tubac.  If you know of a local villager who you would like to nominate for an interview, please fill out our Oral History Subject Nomination form and return it to the attention of the Oral History Committee.
